What
is Railway Bridge Beam Fabrication Machine?
“Railway Bridge Beam Fabrication
Machine” is the Welding / Fabrication machinery
with mechanized elements & modules used to produce Railway Bridge Beam in I
format / Vertical from loosely feed lengthy plates. As the whole process takes
place in, I format, it is also called as “I Beam Railway
Bridge Welding / Fabrication Equipment”.
How
to Fabricate Railway Bridge Beam?
Railway Bridge Beams can be Fabricated from precut lengthy
plates called Flange Plates & Web Plates. These
Flange & Web plates required are precut from standard available steel
plates of industrial stock sizes by either shearing or Plasma / Oxy Fuel
Cutting process. There are total 4 Welding joints / seams in the entire “Railway
Bridge Beam”, 2 on bottom Flange & 2 more
on the Top Flange when taken up for Full Welding in I Format.
The Pre-Cut Flange & Web Plates are loaded on to the
inlet conveyor for further Railway Bridge Beam Fabrication processes. The
plates are placed on the Inlet Conveyor in the respective sequence so as the
bottom Flange is centralized, and the Middle Web Plate is aligned with respect
to the Center of the Bottom Flange. During this process the Girder looks like a
Inverted T Beam. After the final positioning and clamping is done, the manual
tacking is completed for a desired length at the entry alone on both side of
the Web Plate.
The Tacked Inverted T Beam is fed to the main Full Welding
Station. As the Tacked Beam enters the Main Welding Station, the Web and the
bottom Flange are aligned and kept in the respective position with the
necessary clamping arrangements. The both side Twin Wire SAW Torches are
positioned in the Weld Seam joint with the adjustment slide Mechanisms. Once
the Torches are positioned in the Weld Seam route, In the first Stage, the
machine takes care of Full Welding of entire length of the Beam Section for the
bottom side Flange to Web Welding. Whereas the Welded Inverted T beam is taken
aback for reloading in T format and aligned with the one more Flange in order
to form the I Beam / Railway Bridge Beam complete assembly. The same procedure
is carried out for the Second Stage Fitment, Tacking & Full Welding
processes in order to fabricate a complete Railway Bridge Beam / I Beam.

With the help of the above machine configuration /
modules, the tacked I beam is converted in to full Welded I Beam while the beam
Pulls Through the Machine. The I Beams are fabricated / welded with Twin Wire
Submerged Arc Welding Process which allows larger Weld deposition than
conventional MIG Welding or single wire SAW process. Multi-Layer Welding
Sequence is adapted for higher plate thickness to do Multi Pass SAW Welding of Railway
Bridge Beam. Depending on the Thickness of the Web & Flange of the beam,
various other advanced Welding processes can be employed to convert the single
point tacked Beam to a fully Welded H Beam.
Various Parameters governing the Weld Quality and Fillet
Sizes such as Welding Current, Voltage, Beam Traverse speed, are controlled by
the PLC Controlled System.
